Word Hoard

What a Tangled Web We Weave.

Webmaster, domain, portal, hack, and scroll. I'm interested that these words that we so frequently use now to refer to the Internet were used so long ago to refer to a different magic.

I was in a seminar today, and the presenter inconsequently used the word knack. What a terrific word. It has a very nice snap to it. Not a robust mouth-feel, but the effortless proficiency it represents, isn't weighted with effort. Have a nice day.

What previous use of "webmaster" are you referencing? Or perhaps you're simply calling on the connotations of 'web' and 'master'.

It's an interesting journey when we follow the path of 'knack'. Its connotations of skill and simple ingenuity have been applied to the clever and sometimes trivial little items we call knick-knacks.

I really like the Dutch cnacken. Neat that they have that silent "c."
